Group B: Student

You have had pains in your stomach for several days and you feel generally unwell. Two days ago you went to see a doctor at the Student Health Centre, who examined you and prescribed some tablets. The medicine seems to have had no effect; in fact you feel worse and can't sleep properly. You are already anxious about your exams, which start in a couple of weeks; now the worry about your health is making it difficult to concentrate on your revision.

You think that the problem is more serious and that perhaps you didn't explain it clearly enough. The doctor gave you a brief examination and just told you to take the medicine and `try to relax' for a week or so.

It is now Friday afternoon and the Health Centre closes at the weekend. Monday is a public holiday. You don't want to wait until Tuesday before getting attention. How can you persuade the doctor to let you see a specialist, or to change the diagnosis? How can you describe the pain that you have been having?
